Why Join SG?
Sturmgrenadier is made up of and led by adults from many walks of life including many military service personnel, college students, and professionals. Most everyone in SG has a family of their own and enjoy gaming as their #1 past-time. We have lives outside of gaming but at the same time play games to win. We do so in a very organized way with a long-standing history of structure, discipline, and success at what we do while having a great time. When you join Sturmgrenadier you are joining the last gaming organization you will ever need. Once in SG you can play in multiple games with the same group of friends from game to game. There is no need to find a whole new group of friends when a new blockbuster game comes out as SG most likely will have an official presence in it. If you are a team-player, want to obliterate the enemy in Darkfall, and want to play with a group of friends that will be with you for many years, come check out SG.
Sturmgrenadier Policies
Sturmgrenadier is ruled by a long-standing Charter that covers every game we play in. Everyone from the leader of SG as a whole to the individual members adhere to the Charter. You can find the Charter at the following link: Charter Link
The History of Sturmgrenadier
In the early days of online gaming, Novalogic produced a game called Delta Force. At that time, a team called Paradox Insurgent Force, aka P|F was a premier name in the community. A small tightknit group of players made up this team and, for 4 years, was one of the top squads in the land. That team consisted of such notable players as Spoon, Pan, Scorp, and OJ. The days of Delta Force took its toll and eventually everyone decided to retire the M4's and dig into a new game. The squad disbanded; now the P|F tag hangs in the historic walls of Novalogic.
A new genre in online gaming was in the making. A company named Cornered Rat Software was 2 years into development of a massive multiplayer online first person shooter simulation based around the World War II era - World War II Online. Pan, Scorp, and Spoon followed the game for almost a year before first beta was ever released. During that time of waiting, those 3 friends had built a website and recruited more than 100+ players from the old Delta Force community in anticipation of a huge release.
Getting into the beta test early was must. But how? Everyone wanted to be apart of this, the game, the hype. The possibilities were endless, but how to get into beta was the real question. Cornered Rat Software (CRS) announced an open house at their Texas based headquarters, and anyone that came automatically got a ticket into the beta test. Can you say roadtrip? Those friends went to Texas, met the CRS staff and sure enough into beta we went.
From those early days of beta, Sturmgrenadier was born...a name derived entirely from the flagship Portal of SG, WWIIOL. Sturmgrenadier has gone on to become one of the online community's largest, most unique, and most well known gaming organizations. With over 850 current members, playing 6 different online games, and countless thousands of recruit applications coming in every year, Sturmgrenadier is the ultimate gamer's home.
What's with the Portals you ask? As with anything, games come and go but what about the people? Typically, the game is the common bond among gaming clans and when the game no longer appeals to the gamer, the gamer no longer appeals to the clan. With that said, SG decided to syndicate its operations via "Portals" to provide a means for our members and fellow gamers to stay connected, enjoying a variety of online games. The Sturmgrenadier Portals are self-contained communities for specific games, each having it's own dedicated Command Staff to organize operations and plan events. Governing over all of the Portals is the Sturmgrenadier Syndicate Command Staff, a body that determines the overall direction of SG and lays down the general rules for all Portals to operate by.
It was during the creation of Portals that Sturmgrenadier produced it's most important guiding document, the Sturmgrenadier Charter. The Charter is the all-encompassing, "constitution" of SG, if you will. The Charter lays down the rules that EVERY SG member, from the top down, abides by while a member of Sturmgrenadier. While the Charter does not endeavor to have an answer for every question about conduct and operations in SG, it has been found to be surprisingly relevant in most every situation that Sturmgrenadier and its members have come across. Sturmgrenadier's strict adherence to the Charter has had the effect of creating a comfortable place for gamers, free of the nuisances and troubles found with many other gaming groups. If there's ever a problem, the Charter provides the guidance that every staff member and member goes by, it simplifies the entire process. A beneficial side effect of the Charter is the attention it gets from game developers and publishers; Sturmgrenadier and it's members offer a stable, dependable community from which developers and publishers regularly rely on for beta tests and other excercises.
The history of Sturmgrenadier continues to be made. The members and staff of SG have poured countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears into the organization and their work never ceases. Sturmgrenadier's long streak of providing a great place for gamers and friends will proceed into the future without end.
