The Kingdom of Varandale is a North American based guild established for those with a passion and wanderlust akin to the Vikings. It is a place within the world of Darkfall for roleplay and player v player combat; for politics and exploration; for crafting and the building of grand cities. It is a place for those who are much more than mere marauders.

The Kingdom of Varandale already has active members playing around the clock. We encourage global membership, it helps us all to meet new friends and expand our horizons. Each time zone has a guild officer who oversees operations, to ensure effective guild administration. We are currently accepting applications.

I'll try to explain a little about us without all the posturing that normally goes on in guild adverts. Not that I'm suggesting what is above is posturing, but hey, its designed to appeal I guess.

Firstly, we're probably a little older and wiser than most guilds in terms of both guild and membership age. Valthunaer and Glinelril are our co-leaders. They're great people who have been running small and medium sized guilds for many years. When it comes to recruiting, we're pretty choosey. People with egos or who simply act like idiots are better off, for both their's and our sake, somewhere else. Recruiting is restricted to Human, Mirdain and Dwarf.

We have about 50 on our books at the moment, though experience suggests we would probably guild in game about 40 at present. In any event, I think we'll be at about 50 active members shortly after Darkfall starts and we'll probably consolidate at that number for the EU server launch and focus on our city, before moving to a US server when launched.

We think it's important that we remain small enough to be a fairly tight-knit community, but large enough to successfully control and defend a city.

We are a light-RP clan. We hold RP events, and we will stay in role as much as possible. However, most of the time, RP for us is about avoiding reference to the real world and l33t speak. A lot of the time we will be on TeamSpeak anyway - a requirement for successful group PvP. We're RPers, but we're not elitest about it.

As a guild we'll probably focus on controlling, collecting and managing resources initially, as it is going to be crucial to building and holding a city and any form of success (we have a number dedicated crafters and most of us are keen to take at least one crafting profession to a high level). We then aim to see everything that Darfall has to offer once we've created a little security!

Although we will fight aggressively to hold what is ours and to support our allies, we are unlikely to be expansionist. We want to build a great city and hold it, and get our economy going and establish some trade if the mechanics allow it. However, we are not a Viking/Germanic themed guild without reason, and we'll be doing plenty of raiding (PvP) for both the loot and practice - but predominantly against racial enemies so that we can maintain a positive alignment.

We have some pretty definite plans as to what we will be doing on launch and how we are going to achieve those plans. Having had quite a few players in beta has helped alot. Good luck and we might see you in game.

Wait you have 50 people already, yet you think it should be 40 but think it will be 50 after start?

Man these RP guilds confuse me

Too many words to read... distracting from game playing time... RP guild killing gaming experience with their blah blah blah.

DM: From the deepest crypts crawls the undead thread, it's death rattle shakes you to your core. What foul necromantic forces brought forth this foul beast.
Cleric: I attempt to turn undead.
DM: You can't this is a WoW forum D&D magic does not work here.
Cleric: Well guys we are @#$%*%!
Wizard: Agreed, I believe this Necrothread was created by a dread ForumLych, impossible to stop, without a sense of humor.
Fighter: Very well I throw a badge or some other posting reward down at the necrothread and prepare a tactical retreat.
DM: The necrothread pauses at your offer, snaps up the reward and slinks off deeper into the internet.
Rogue: Phwew! That was close... I wonder if there are even more ancient Necrothreads ahead of us?
Fighter: We will only know when we continue on our journey through the crypts of Warcry.
