It was announced that the game would be released in 2008 and also stated that open beta would be this month. First closed beta came around and the only people allowed in the beta were a small group of trusted friends, most likely only about 20-30 people. Which is fine with me however they mislead the community into thinking that mass beta invites had been sent out.

Now it's crunch time and even though it was also stated that open beta would have ended by December not only has open beta NOT begun but the devs haven't mentioned a date at all. I have no problems with delays and a company not meeting a date even though they specifically promised that they would but I do have a problem with them completely ignoring the subject and expecting us to forget that they said it.

The mods are now deleting posts from the forum and banning people for pointing out that the Darkfall devs are hiding something. Why are they so afraid to conduct a legit closed beta that includes more people than just their personal friends? Why did a small company like Aventurine refuse an interview with tentonhammer.com a week ago?

Here is my post that got me banned from their forums, it was a reply to another thread:

People were warned and didn't listen. I saw the signs last month when the lies started piling up but people wanted to wait until the last minute...wait until December 15th, it'll be the same story. December 31th... same shit. The game is real and it'll be out eventually but don't be surprised if the features are dramatically different than what you expected.

The Darkfall devs are HIDING something because they know a large amount of the community will be disappointed when they find out. Watch how lame city building is, how simplistic crafting turns out to be, et cetera...

Like I said, I personally believe that the game will be out within the next couple months but it's highly unlikely that the features they promised will be delivered upon. I only wish that more of the posters there weren't such sheep and they would mount together and ask hard questions instead accepting the words of Tasos as messages from god.

I've been a member of their community since 2003 and I've supported the game throughout the vaporware accusations and all of the other criticism. The game is indeed real however it looks like it will not be the game we were promised and the hardcore fans such as myself will be sorely disappointed.

Some people get way to attached to an MMO they haven't even played yet.

And yet there is No proof at all that Darkfall wouldnt deliver what they promised.

and they seem to be generally happy

So how about you quit the bullshit copy pasted hollow accusations and stop trying to post them as Questions so that the mods wont close the thread.
You never had anything real as basis of any of your claims and even now with Beta previews coming in from independent sources you still keep to quoting from "some guys opinion on mmorpg"

So has development of this game been going on forever or something? Is it the Duke Nukem Forever of MMOs? Or is its delay schedule more like Valve "guess what guys, delayed again" time. (Though I'm ok with delays if the product is better and more polished as a result.)

Some call it the Duke Nukem Forever of MMOs, others think it'll be the Daikatana of MMOs. Overall, Darkfall is the first MMO developed by a small and independent Greek team with no previous games in their belts.

The fact that it might be released soon, early next year, is actually impressive knowing all the difficulties and challenges involving in launching a major MMO.
